Airbus' Leahy: no "large delays" in A380 delivery schedule to Emirates

Airbus Customers Chief Operating Officer, John Leahy, stated there will not be "large delays" to Emirates' delivery schedule for A380 aircraft (Emirates Business 24/7, 22-Nov-2009). Mr Leahy added Airbus expects the global economy to commence recovery "quickly" following the Middle East's recovery. Mr Leahy also expects orders over the next 12 months to remain "relatively flat".

Emirates: "The A380 programme is a complex one. We are having a little more difficulty in the A380 programme than we anticipated. However, there will not be any large delays to Emirates delivery schedule for the super jumbo. We are talking about the normal industrial flow of airplanes shifting forward and back by a few weeks. Middle Eastern airlines tend to be the barometer of the industry. Some of the airlines in the region were the first to be hit by the global financial crisis. They are seeing the market recover now. And I think as the Middle East recovers, the rest of the world would recover quickly," John Leahy, Customers Chief Operating Officer. Source: Emirates Business 24/7, 22-Nov-2009.
