Airbus and Boeing could go different ways on narrowbodies: Pratt & Whitney

Pratt & Whitney President David Hess stated it is possible that Airbus and Boeing could go in different directions for their narrowbody programmes (Reuters, 08-Sep-2010). Airbus is seen as leaning towards fitting new engines to its A320 family, while Boeing has stated its customers do not see a business case for new engines and is considering developing an all-new aircraft. Both manufacturers are significantly increasing narrowbody production over the next two years.

Pratt & Whitney: "Sooner or later they are going to decide to do something, and we think we'll be ready and will continue to be in the lead with the best-technology engine that's out there," David Hess, President. Source: Reuters, 08-Sep-2010.
