airBaltic obtains full scope maintenance capability for A220-300

airBaltic received (11-Sep-2019) a certificate for the provision of full scale EASA Part-145 line maintenance and base maintenance for the A220-300 after passing an audit conducted by Latvia's Civil Aviation Agency. airBaltic is the first airline with maintenance capability and the second maintenance organisation in the world entitled to provide a full scope of maintenance for the A220-300. The carrier's fleet includes 19 A220-300 aircraft and it is moving towards a single type A220-300 fleet in the future. The capabilities are expected ensure maintenance is more cost and time effective. SVP technical operations Andris Vaivads noted the carrier is considering offering maintenance services to other A220-300 operators. Previously, the carrier was a line maintenance organisation for A220-300, Bombardier Q400 NextGen and Boeing 737 types. [more - original PR]
