Air transport sector organisations oppose provision of new EU Air Accident Investigation Regulation
European and international aviation organisations expressed (26-Apr-2010) serious concerns with the provisions contained in the proposal for a new EU Regulation on Accident Investigation, which grants the judicial investigators access to flight recorders and safety information. The 14 organisations called on the EU Parliament, Council and Commission to revise the proposal. The signatories believe the provisions will grant judicial investigation primacy over the safety investigation, which will "seriously jeopardise the ability of accident investigators to obtain accident information".
