Air India configured its new 787-9s with 296 seats across three classes and planned to receive five additional widebody aircraft in 2026, including both 787-9s and A350-1000s. The initial 787-9 deployment on Mumbai-Frankfurt from 01-Feb-2026 would operate with certain business class and economy seats restricted until US FAA certification was completed.
