Air India employees launch 'hunger' strike

Air India employees have reportedly launched a three-day 'hunger' strike, to protest a delay in salary payments (Press Trust of India, 25-Aug-09). Members of the Aviation Industry Employees Guild (AIEG) and Air Corporation Employees Union (ACEU) are reportedly involved in the strike. The carrier informed that flight operations would not be affected. However, some ground level operations may be delayed. Meanwhile, Air India stated it would not delay the payment of Aug-2009 employee salaries.
