Air France presents 'concrete measures' to Central Works Council, calls for strikes to be called off
Air France presented (14-Jun-2018) "concrete measures" to the Air France Central Works Council, approved by the Board of Directors, in order to respond to the concerns expressed by employees during the staff consultation. The measures will be implemented immediately and are structured around two main priorities:
- Immediate measures to "improve the daily lives of staff". Management has decided to provide an "exceptional budget" in summer 2018 and "wants to take rapid action to provide concrete solutions to problems that affect the daily lives of staff". Among the first measures to be implemented is the renovation of ramp facilities at Paris Orly Airport and an increase in the availability of rest areas for aircrew at Air France premises;
- A new approach to staff concerns and dialogue, to provide "concrete solutions to staff expectations". Air France stated: "This approach will involve all staff, who will be able to express their dissatisfaction as well as their convictions and proposals on all subjects related to the company's operations".
The Air France-KLM Board of Directors also confirmed that there was no mandate for new pay negotiations in the present circumstances pending a new governance structure. Air France management called on the inter union association to lift its strike notice from 23-Jun-2018 to 26-Jun-2018, which would "worsen the company's situation and have a major impact on our customers on the eve of the busy summer period".
