Air Algerie orders eight 737-800s and three ATR 72-600s

Air Algerie announced (06-Jan-2014) a commitment for eight Boeing 737-800s and a purchase agreement for three ATR 72-600 aircraft. The 737 order will be worth USD724 million at list prices when finalised and the 72-600 order is valued at USD74.1 million at list prices. The 737s are expected to be delivered by the end of 2016 and the 68-seat ATRs will be received from late 2014 to 2015. The 72-600s will consolidate the airline's position as the largest ATR operator in Africa. Air Algerie CEO Mohamed Salah Boultif said, "The 737-800 continues to be the backbone of Air Algerie's fleet. So far, we are pleased with these aircraft." Mr Boultif also stated, "We plan to operate the ATR 72-600 to its maximum potential - an aircraft that offers high level of operational efficiency and product competitiveness, while allowing Air Algerie to develop new business opportunities."
