Aena previously announced plans to invest approximately EUR3.2 billion for the expansion of Barcelona-El Prat Josep Tarradellas Airport, including the remodelling of both terminals, extension of the sea runway, a new satellite terminal, and environmental measures to preserve surrounding areas such as La Ricarda lagoon and the Llobregat Delta's natural areas1. The remodelling of Terminal 1 and related improvements were estimated to require an investment of around EUR700 million2.
