ACI World: US airports need USD123bn in capital through 2023 to accommodate growth
Airports Council International (ACI) World reported (12-Sep-2019) the short term compound annual growth rate of air travel in North America is 3.6%, with the US representing 90% of the growth and Canada representing 10%. The growth rate translates to more than 350 million additional passengers for this mature market, with 77% of those additional passengers being domestic traffic. ACI director general Angela Gittens said: "America's airports have more than USD128 billion in capital needs through 2023", with more than 56% of the investment needs inside ageing terminals. Ms Gittens added the "existing system fails to meet US airport infrastructure investment needs for modernizing and expanding airport capacity". [more - original PR]
