ACI Europe estimates European airports to lose 100m pax, EUR2bn revenue in 1Q2020 due to Covid-19

ACI Europe estimated (17-Mar-2020) EU/EEA/Swiss and UK airports will collectively lose around 100 million passengers in 1Q2020 and a 1Q2020 revenue loss of EUR2 billion due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak. President Jost Lammers stated that the situation is "worsening" as EU and other nations implement travel restrictions to slow the spread of the virus, with EU airports "bracing for a near-total collapse of their traffic, connectivity and revenues" and face growing cash flow concerns. He also noted the 1Q2020 revenue loss does not factor in the recent Schengen zone travel ban in place and that revenue losses will "further deepen" in the coming months. [more - original PR]
