A4A projects Thanksgiving travel will rise 2.5% to 27.3m passengers in 2016

Airlines for America (A4A) projected (02-Nov-2016) 27.3 million passengers will travel globally on US carriers during the Thanksgiving travel period, up 2.5% or an additional 55,000 passengers per day year-over-year. A4A attributed the increase to a "highly affordable airfare", with carriers accommodating demand with 74,000 seats per day through larger aircraft and extra frequencies. A4A expects US airlines will carry an average of 2.27 million passengers per day over the 12-day period, which extends from 18-Nov-2016 through 29-Nov-2016. Daily passenger volumes will range from 1.51 million to 2.81 million, with the busiest travel days in ranked order expected to be 27-Nov-2016, 28-Nov-2016, and 23-Nov-2016. The lightest travel day is expected to be Thanksgiving Day on 24-Nov-2016. [more - original PR]
