Travel from New Zealand to Australia - MIQ

Direct News Source

Due to the current COVID-19 outbreak in New Zealand, quarantine-free travel between New Zealand and Australia has been suspended. Currently, all arrivals into Australia need to enter mandatory paid managed isolation. As a result, we've amended our schedule in response to this change.

All passenger flights operating from New Zealand to Australia for travel between 1-24 September 2021 have been cancelled, these cancellations will appear in the GDS today.

Air New Zealand will contact customers with an email address in their PNR to let them know that their flight is cancelled and to contact their travel agent to discuss options.

Air New Zealand has secured limited space in Managed Isolation in Australia (MIQ), and the following flights will be available for sale from 10.00am NZT on Thursday, 2 September.

These flights will be available for sale via airnewzealand.com.au and in the GDS later that day.

Date of flight Sector Flight Number
5-Sep Auckland - Sydney NZ863
5 Sep, 11 Sep & 18 Sep Auckland - Brisbane NZ841
5 Sep, 12 Sep & 19 Sep Auckland-Melbourne NZ883
5 Sep, 12 Sep & 19 Sep Auckland - Perth NZ825

Due to the limited number of seats we recommend booking online as seats will sell quickly.

Customers who wish to use existing tickets/credits to book on a Managed Isolation flight via airnewzealand.com.au will need to purchase a new ticket and upon receipt of proof of purchase we will authorise a refund, subject to the following conditions:

  • The traveller's names are the same on the original ticket and the new ticket purchased.
  • The original ticket was for travel from New Zealand to Australia for travel from 16 August 2021.

Please complete this form if your customers are eligible for a refund.

Please note: there are minimal seats for sale on these flights due to managed isolation space allocated by the Australian Government. Flights will be sold on a first-in first-served basis, there is no compassionate allocation.

All travellers on these flights will be required to:

  • Present a negative pre-departure COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of departure. Please visit the Australian Government's website for more information on the pre-departure test requirements.
  • Complete a health check upon arrival.
  • Present a completed Australia Travel Declaration (ATD).
  • Follow any State Government entry requirements - please visit the Australian State Government websites for the most up to date information.

All customers affected by this change have flexibility as shown in the Customer Flexibility Guide.
