Statement from Executive Director Rick Cotton on the FAA's completion of its environmental review for the Terminal 8 Improvements Project at John F. Kennedy International Airport

"We are pleased the FAA has completed its environmental review of American Airlines construction of new facilities at JFK. We are now building clear momentum and hitting another important milestone as we realize Governor Cuomo's vision for a world-class, unified JFK Airport. The TWA Hotel in Eero Saarinen's historic terminal is open and operating, setting the tone for the redevelopment project, and we have now received final approval for American Airlines to move forward with its new facilities and new gates. We will work with American to set a groundbreaking this fall. The PA board approved 10 days ago $455 million in early works for the JFK Redevelopment that can now begin.

We expect additional groundbreakings on the two major new international terminals in the North and South of the airport to follow next year. These groundbreakings will drive the new JFK Airport redevelopment forward at a rapid pace, keeping the project on schedule and ensuring that this international gateway becomes the modern airport with best in class amenities that the region deserves."
