Qantas to continue flights to Norfolk Island

Direct News Source

Qantas will extend its flights to Norfolk Island until 30 June 2022 to maintain critical passenger and freight connectivity with the Australian mainland.

The national carrier has been operating flights to Norfolk Island since late January, as part of a contract with the Federal Government, following the suspension of Air New Zealand flights between Norfolk Island and Australia due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

An extension of the contract will see Qantas continue to operate up to six flights per week to the Australian territory, three flights from Sydney and three from Brisbane. The flights will be operated by Qantas' Boeing 737 aircraft, offering 2,000 seats across the routes each week as well as belly space for freight. Flights from Sydney will be reduced over the next few weeks while current travel restrictions are in place.

Special fares to Norfolk Island are available from $299 one way until 11.59pm AEST 15 September 2021, unless sold out prior. Terms and conditions apply.*

Customers will depart and arrive from the International Terminal in Sydney and Brisbane. Flight time is two and a half hours from Sydney and around two hours from Brisbane.

Qantas has recently extended its Fly Flexible policy, offering customers who book flights before 30 September 2021 with unlimited 'fee free' date changes when travelling before 28 February 2022. A fare difference may apply.
