Qantas to boost flights to Tasmania with new Brisbane service

Direct News Source

Qantas has announced it will launch flights between Brisbane and Hobart in time for the holiday season.

From 4 December 2020, Qantas will operate four return flights per week with its two class Boeing 717 aircraft, adding more than 800 seats on the route each week.

To celebrate the new service, Qantas is offering a three-day sale with fares from $179 one way, until Friday, unless sold out prior.

Qantas and Jetstar are also preparing to resume flights from Sydney, once the Tasmanian border is open to New South Wales residents.

This announcement follows several routes Qantas and Jetstar have recently launched as border restrictions lift:

The new seasonal route between Canberra and the Gold Coast was introduced last month, which saw the flying kangaroo operate the route for the first time in more than two decades. Until 27 March 2021, the service will vary from 3 flights per week to daily depending on the season. Please refer to the GDS for the latest schedule.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Qantas has introduced a number of initiatives to help customers to book with greater flexibility, including allowing a flight to be moved free of charge, as well as introducing additional health and safety measures through its Fly Well program.

The flights will operate every Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
