01-Feb-2018 Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) is excited to announce that Primera Air will begin five weekly nonstop flights to London Stanstead Airport (STN) on Aug. 22. The new service will provide travelers between the U.S. Capital Region and the United Kingdom a low-fare option when planning their travels, with one-way flights starting at $199.

"Washington Dulles International Airport welcomes Primera Air's low-cost transatlantic service, which offers passengers heading to and from the U.S. Capital region a new choice for their travels," said Jerome L. Davis, executive vice president and chief revenue officer for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. "We look forward to supporting Primera Air's growth as we continue to solidify Dulles International Airport's strong position as the Washington region's premier gateway to the world."

Primera Air is the latest in a series of new airline service announcements launching at Dulles International in 2018, which saw international passenger activity increase to a record 7.8 million in 2017.

Made possible by Primera Air's all-new, ultra-efficient Airbus and Boeing narrow body fleet arriving in April 2018, the route will be serviced by an A321neo fitted with a total of 198 seats-16 in a premium economy cabin and 182 in their main economy cabin.

"We've been planning to add Washington, D.C., from the beginning of our transatlantic flight project. Primera Air sees a strong demand for this route, and we are proud to be the first low-cost airline to start operations between both cities-offering people an affordable way of transatlantic travel," says Andri Már Ingólfsson, president and owner of Primera Air.

Primera Air is also opening new crew bases in Birmingham (BHX), London Stansted (STN) and Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) as it expands its network to include New York, Boston and Toronto, along with new routes to Málaga, Palma de Mallorca, Alicante, Barcelona and Chania. In the next two years, Primera Air plans to increase its presence at current bases while adding new transatlantic routes and bases.
