Maher Al Musallam Officially Instated as Gulf Air CEO

Gulf Air's Board of Directors today announced the instatement of Mr. Maher Salman Jabber Al Musallam in the position of Chief Executive Officer. Mr Al Musallam joined Gulf Air as Deputy Chief Executive Officer and has been at the helm of the airline, as Acting Chief Executive Officer, since December 2012. A seasoned aviation professional Mr. Al Musallam has, with Gulf Air's executive management team, spearheaded the national carrier's 2013 restructuring strategy to deliver groundbreaking results - most significantly the record reduction in the airline's annual losses.

The announcement is a direct result of Mr Al Musallam and Gulf Air's executive management team efforts leading to three consecutive years of landmark achievements - a true turnaround for Bahrain's national carrier that now opens up the airline to new growth and development opportunities. The support of Gulf Air's executive management team lays the groundwork of Gulf Air's strategic vision for controlled growth, while further promoting the Kingdom of Bahrain at home and abroad.

Speaking on his appointment and vision for Gulf Air Mr. Al Musallam said, "This is a responsibility that I do not take lightly - I am honoured to continue serving the Kingdom of Bahrain's national carrier and, with the airline's executive management team's ongoing support and efforts, realising its ongoing positive transformation. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the airline's Board of Directors and the Bahraini government for entrusting us with this responsibility that we highly appreciate"

Gulf Air's Board of Directors additionally instated Mrs. Sahar Ataei as Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Ahmed Janahi as Chief Commercial Officer and Mr. Jamal Hashim as Chief Technical Officer in recognition of their efforts and contributions towards the national carrier's turnaround over the past three years.

This announcement follows news of Gulf Air's restructured aircraft orders, comprising 45 aircraft with Boeing and Airbus in deals worth a combined total of USD7.6 billion and geared towards providing Gulf Air with the requisite expansion capabilities for the airline's extensively studied future network requirements. The airline is currently preparing to release its highly anticipated 2015 financial and operational results.

رسمياً، تعيين ماهر المسلّم رئيساً تنفيذياً لطيران الخليج وثلاثة رؤساء لقطاعات الشئون المالية و التجارية والتقنية

أعلن مجلس إدارة طيران الخليج عن تعيين السيد ماهر سلمان بن جبر المسلم في منصب الرئيس التنفيذي للناقلة الوطنية. وقد انضم السيد المسلم إلى طيران الخليج كنائبٍ للرئيس التنفيذي، ثم شغل منصب القائم بأعمال الرئيس التنفيذي منذ شهر ديسمبر من العام 2014. ولكونه ينتمي إلى عالم الطيران ـ لسنوات عديدة ـ ؛ قاد السيد المسلم إدارة طيران الخليج التنفيذية خلال تطبيق الخطة الاستراتيجية لإعادة هيكلة الناقلة التي بدأتها في العام 2013، والتي جاءت بنتائج مبهرة؛ أبرزها خفض الخسائر السنوية للناقلة بطريقة غير مسبوقة.

يعود هذا التعيين الرسمي لما حققه السيد المسلم وفريق الإدارة التنفيذية بطيران الخليج من نتائج طيبة ومتميزة على مدى الأعوام الثلاث الماضية - وهذا يعتبر تحوّلاً حقيقياً في مسيرة الناقلة الوطنية يفتح لها أبواب جديدة لفرص النمو والتطور، إلى جانب الدعم الكبير من أعضاء فريق الإدارة التنفيذية للناقلة الذين هم جديرون بقيادة الناقلة الوطنية لتحقيق رؤاها في النمو، والترويج لها على الصعيدين المحلي والدولي في الوقت ذاته.

من جانبه، عبَّر السيد المسلم عن سعادته بهذا التعيين وقال "إنها لمسئولية أحملها على عاتقي بكل جدية، ويشرفني الاستمرار في خدمة الناقلة الوطنية واستكمال تحوّلها الإيجابي بدعم من فريق الإدارة التنفيذية للناقلة. وأود هنا أن اعبر عن جزيل شكري وأمتناني لمجلس إدارة الناقلة ولحكومتنا الموقرة على هذه الثقة الغالية التي منحونا إياها والتي نثمنها كثيرا."

يُذكر أن مجلس الإدارة قد قرر أيضاً تعيين السيدة / سحر عطائي، رئيساً للقطاع المالي والسيد / أحمد جناحي رئيساً للقطاع التجاري والسيد / جمال هاشم رئيساً للقطاع التقني، بعد أن شغلوا هذه المناصب كقائمين بأعمالها، وذلك بعد أن أثبتوا جدارتهم خلال السنوات الثلاث الماضية وتضافرت جهودهم جميعا تحت قيادة السيد ماهر المسلم في توجيه دفة الناقلة الوطنية خلال مسيرتها الموفقة بفضل الله تعالى إلى تحقيق تلك النتائج المالية والتشغيلية الإيجابية. كما يأتي الإعلان عن هذا التعيين أيضاً بعد إعلان طيران الخليج عن مراجعة طلبيات الشراء لأسطول طائراتها الجديدة المكوّنة من 45 طائرة بوينغ وإيرباص في صفقة تبلغ قيمة 7.6 مليار دولار أمريكي تهدف إلى تلبية احتياجات التوسع المستقبلي لشبكة وجهات الناقلة. الجدير بالذكر أن طيران الخليج تستعد حالياً لإصدار نتائجها المالية والتشغيلية المرتقبة للعام 2015.
