10-Sep-2014

Boost for London Stansted, Manchester, East Midlands and Bournemouth with bumper August

Passenger numbers at the MAG airports of Manchester, London Stansted, East Midlands and Bournemouth, showed strong growth of 8.9% in August - with the four airports combined handling a total of 5.32m passengers.

The uplift in passenger numbers demonstrates improving consumer confidence, as the UK's economy continues to strengthen.

At London Stansted, a greater choice of destinations and frequencies led to an impressive increase of 11.6% on the same month last year, to 2.03m.

At the UK's third biggest airport, Manchester, the increase on August last year was 8.2% to 2.56m, buoyed by new long-haul services, popular with business travellers and holidaymakers alike.

Increased numbers of holidaymakers also saw 2.8% more people fly from Bournemouth Airport and 4.3% more fly from East Midlands Airport this August, compared to the same month last year.
