How airlines can improve handling bookings and protect revenue integrity with real time booking intelligence

One of the challenges that airlines face is handling bookings from the small minority of travel agents that do not follow airlines' revenue management policies. While most of these bookings are simply erroneous, some are due to system misuse. This is why we have developed Amadeus Altéa Booking Intelligence (ABI), a solution which detects misuse and those bookings that are not in line with airlines' revenue management policies before ticketing, and cancels these segments automatically. Unlike other Revenue Integrity solutions, ABI can detect and stop these kinds of bookings in real time. In doing so, it reduces manual processes and enforces airline revenue management policies. It also means airlines save time and money by not having to analyze inventory to check for incorrect bookings.

The airlines that implemented Amadeus Altéa Booking Intelligence thought they would receive a lot of calls from travel agents complaining about auto cancellations, however, that didn't happen. The solution is so precise that only incorrect bookings are automatically cancelled. In fact, it started to work so well that misusers soon saw it was no longer possible to outdo the system.

Those airlines that currently use Amadeus Altéa Booking Intelligence have seen an additional revenue of between €0.2 and €0.4 per passenger boarded. Furthermore, the observed ratio of system misuse and incorrect bookings has dropped to between 0.4% and 1.3% per passenger boarded.

We're proud of the difference our technology has made for our airline partners and we look forward to working with them on other solutions to improve their businesses.
