Cambodia Airports handled more than 2 million passengers in Q1 2016

12-Apr-2016 Cambodia Airports handled more than 2 million passengers and 20,000 flights movements in the first quarter of 2016, an increase of 4.9% and 6.6% respectively compared to the same period in 2015. Cargo tonnage increased by 18.4% to 10,477 tons from January to March 2016.

Passengers

Phnom Penh International Airport received more than 863,000 passengers from January to March 2016, an increase of 10.1%, while Siem Reap International Airport handled in excess of 1 million passengers, up 1.3% compared to Q1/2015. Passenger traffic at Sihanouk International Airport decreased 1.6% to 30,187 passengers due to fewer international flights.

Flights Movements

Phnom Penh International Airport handled more than 8,500 domestic and international flight movements, growing 13.6%, while Siem Reap handled more than 11,100, up 0.9% compared to 2015. Flight movements in Sihanouk International Airport grew at 33.8% in the first quarter of 2016 to 522 due to higher domestic flight frequencies.

Cargo

Cargo tonnage in Phnom Penh Cargo Terminal grew by 17.3%, while Siem Reap Airport Cargo Terminal saw 141.8% more cargo compared to 2015.
