06-Jul-2017 Council's investment and persistence pays off

It's with extreme excitement that Council can now announce that Fly Corporate will commence Sydney - Narrabri flights in September.

This announcement comes after a sustained and unrelenting effort by Council to secure flights to Sydney for Narrabri Shire and regional residents.

"A number of key staff and myself have been very active in regards to securing Sydney - Narrabri flights" stated Council's General Manager, Mr Stewart Todd.

"An enormous amount of work has been undertaken over the last 12 months or more, and it is fantastic we can make this announcement today".

Fly Corporate operate the current Brisbane - Narrabri flight and a Sydney flight adds to their local offerings.

"It's been fantastic to work with such a professional aviation company in Fly Corporate. Any activity such as this is built on trust and I think we have both respected that."

"Fly Corporate have provided a great quality service to Brisbane and I think the Narrabri Shire and regional residents have shown their confidence in that service, which Fly Corporate have now seen and which has resulted in the expansion and announcement of the new service to Sydney." Mr Todd added.

Council's significant investment in the airport has not been without criticism, albeit by a small few in the community.

"This is a very good example of a well thought out and executed strategy by Council." Council's Mayor Cathy Redding said. "Comprehensive master planning, a sound financial plan and persistence by Council has now paid off for Narrabri Shire and regional residents who will now be serviced by flights to both Brisbane and Sydney - there are exciting times ahead for Narrabri Shire."

Council thanks Fly Corporate in showing confidence in Narrabri Shire and the route and encourages all members of the community to support the new additional service to Sydney.
