Auckland Airport experienced total passenger growth of 2.5% in October 2018. International passengers (excl. Transits) were up 3.1%, while domestic passengers grew by 3.0% compared to October 2017. International passenger growth (excl. Transits) was predominantly driven by additional capacity on Asia (+35,000 seats), particularly to Indonesia (+23,000 seats), and Pacific Island routes (+19,000 seats). Australian arrivals growth of 7.8% mainly driven by later timing of Australian school holidays this year.

Air Asia X has announced it will cease its Auckland-Kuala Lumpur via Gold Coast service effective from 11 February 2019.
Air New Zealand announced it will add an additional weekly service on its Auckland-Gold Coast route using its new A321neo aircraft to increase the number of seats available on this route by almost 60% from February 2019.
