GE Aerospace
About
An operating unit of General Electric, GE Aerospace (formerly GE Aviation) is a major producer of jet engines, components and systems for commercial and military aircraft. It also produces integrated digital, electric power and mechanical systems for aircraft.
Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, the company traces its history back to the production of components for the famous Liberty engine, which first ran in 1917. Through its own production and the joint ventures it has entered, particularly CFM International, the company is the world’s leading supplier of large commercial aircraft engines. In 2007, the company acquired Smiths Aerospace for USD4.8 billion, significantly broadening its offerings for aviation customers.
GE Aerospace launched as an independent public company in Apr-2024, following the completion of the GE Vernova spin off. The launch of GE Aerospace represents the completion of GE's multi-year financial and operational transformation.
