Established in Nov-1981, ATR (Avions de Transport Régional) is an aircraft manufacturer based in Toulouse, France. ATR was founded as a joint-venture between the Airbus Group and Alenia Aermacchi (a former Finmeccanica company, now known as the Leonardo Company). The company produces two sizes of regional turboprop aircraft, the 70-seat ATR 72 and the 50-seat ATR 42. ATR employs more than 1200 people, with major operations in the Blagnac and St Martin areas of the Midi Pyrénées region. More than 1700 ATR aircraft have been sold to date.
