North Bali International Airport (Bali Buleleng Airport) is a new airport development project that will provide the Indonesian island of Bali with a second commercial airport. The airport is being built to ease the growing congestion at the current Denpasar Airport. The new airport will be located north of Denpasar, in the Kubutambahan district of Buleleng Regency. A train line will link the two airports. The development will feature two runways. The project is scheduled to be completed by 2024. The project will not be completed in 2024 as previously planned
Jul-2025. Indonesia's Minister of People's Empowerment Coordination Muhaimin Iskandar confirmed President Prabowo Subianto approved a project to construct North Bali International Airport. Mr Muhaimin said: "We have obtained approval from the President. All technical aspects have been prepared, and we will strive to realise the North Bali Airport in the near future". Directorate General of Civil Aviation spokesperson Endah Purnama Sari stated: "Until now, the proposed North Bali International Airport has no confirmed site, although the Bali provincial government has submitted a request as the initiator of the location determination".
Aug-2022. Indonesia's Deputy Minister for Regional Development and Spatial Planning Wahyu Utomo confirmed development of North Bali International Airport remains a national need, despite the project's removal from the National Strategic Projects list in Jul-2022. Mr Utomo noted the project will not be completed in 2024 as previously planned.
Jan-2022. PT BIBU Panji Sakti posted news reports stating the company and China Construction First Group (CCFG) signed an MoU to develop North Bali International Airport. CCFG will be the main contractor of the airport project, which will require around IDR50 trillion (USD3.5 billion).
