Nizamabad Airport

Nizamabad Airport is a proposed airport development that would serve the city of Nizamabad, Telangana State, India. In Jun-2013 Airports Authority of India (AAI) approved the site for the proposed airport at Jakranpally in Nizamabad district, but increased their land requirement from 1200 to 1500 acres to ensure there was sufficient space for development of necessary infrastructure. The cost of construction (undisclosed) will be completely borne by the State governments. However, they could involve private persons and corporates. The airport is still awaiting for technical feasibility studies by Airport Authority of India.
Aug-2021. India's Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia confirmed Airports Authority of India (AAI) plans to undertake works to develop Nizamabad Airport in Telangana.
Apr-2021. Telangana's Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao requested India's Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) accelerate the approvals process for the development of six new airports in Telangana, including Nizamabad Airport.
Jul-2019. Airports Authority of India will undertake technical feasibility studies for the development of Nizamabad Airport in Telangana in the near future.
Feb-2016. Telangana State Government finalised proposals to establish new airports in the state. The proposal were pending over the past 18 months due to uncertainty over their locations and land acquisition. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has now approved land acquisition for an airport project at Nizamabad, which will be submitted to the Ministry of Civil Aviation for approval.
