New Osh Airport is a proposed new airport development for Kyrgyzstan's second largest city, Osh. Manas International Airport OJSC, operators of the nation's capital airport, signed an agreement with China Machine Engineering Corporation (CMEC) to construct the proposed regional hub. CMEC will invest USD300 million on initial development works. Both parties plan to complete the project within a three-year period, and expect the new airport will turn Osh into a civil aviation hub for the region. The new airport will be constructed on a 500ha land plot in Mady.
Dec-2017. Kyrgyzstan's Supreme Council member Kubanychbek Jumaliyev stated the construction of a second, larger airport at Osh "must be considered as a priority".
Feb-2017. Kyrgyzstan's Supreme Council Jogorku Kenesh confirmed plans to construct a New Osh Airport at a different location to serve a growing number of passengers and improve services, as confirmed by Jogorku Kenesh parliament member Iskender Matraimov. Mr Matraimov stated the new airport will be constructed on a 500ha land plot in Mady and will comply with modern requirements.
Oct-2016. Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Transport State Secretary Ermek Mamyrkaliev announced long-term prospects to construct a new airport at Osh, to ensure the flight path of arriving aircraft passes through the national airspace. Mr Mamyrkaliev said: "By order of the government, we sought land, found 500 hectares, the question now related to the investor."
Nov-2015. Kyrgyzstan's Government is seeking a location for construction of Osh Airport, according to Prime Minister Temir Sariyev. Mr Sariyev said: “Large aircraft cannot land there. Currently we are looking for another area for construction.”
Sep-2015. Kyrgyzstan's Government announced plans to modernise Osh Airport to handle transit traffic and to ensure its compliance with international standards.
Jul-2014. The Manas International Airport deputy chairman Dair Tokobayev said "investors want to construct a new airport in Osh". He noted that Osh is located in a geographically strategic location for services, adding that investors have calculated that such an airport could be profitable, hence their willingness to invest.
