About

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council announced in Nov-2018 plans to construct a new airport at Solone, between the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions. Ukraine's Government plans to allocate UAH200 million (EUR6.3 million/USD7.2 million) for the project. Amendments were submitted to increase funding to UAH1 billion (EUR31.6 million/USD36.1 million). President Petro Poroshenko said the construction of the new airport is a priority project for 2019. The new Dnipropetrovsk Airport is expected to handle between two to three million passengers p/a.


Nov-2021. Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated UAH1.4 billion (EUR46.2 million) has been invested in New Dnipropetrovsk Airport infrastructure during 2021.

May-2019.

30-May-2019. Ukraine's Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said a series of discussions need to be held on the location of New Dnipropetrovsk Airport. Mr Groysman added constructing a new airport at Solone will be expensive and slow, noting the reconstruction of the existing airport is a better alternative.

02-May-2019. Ukraine's Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelyan said New Dnipropetrovsk Airport is expected to feature capacity of at least two million to three million passengers p/a.

Jan-2019. Ukraine's Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelyan said documents on cost and tender requirements are being prepared for the construction of a new airport between Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia. Mr Omelyan expects construction to be completed in two to three years. 

Dec-2018. Ukraine's Ministry of Infrastructure signed a MoU with China Airport Construction Group Corporation. Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelyan noted the construction of a new airport between Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia is scheduled to commence in 2019.

Nov-2018. Ukraine's Minister for Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelyan said the construction of a new airport at Solone is expected to commence in 2019 and be completed in two to three years. Mr Omelyan said: "The government will take upon itself the construction of the runway, while all the rest - a private investor. Also, I would like for the regional administration to participate". Mr Omleyan added the airport is expected to serve "a few million" passengers.

Nov-2018. DCH Group plans to employ Airport Consulting Vienna to assess the alternative locations for the construction of a new Dnipropetrovsk airport. 

Nov-2018. Dnipropetrovsk City Head Boris Filatov said a final decision on the location of the new Dnipropetrovsk airport could be reached by the end of 2018. Mr Filatov said the airport could be constructed at Solone, Kamianka or the site of Dnipropetrovsk Airport.
