About
The New Chah-Bahar Airport is a proposed airport to serve the coastal town of Chah-Bahar, Iran. The airport will be constructed in the northern part of the 'Chabahar Free Trade-Industrial Zone', covering 2815 hectare land. The phase one construction will be carried out by Khatam al-Anbiya Construction. The Chabahar Free Zone Organisation plans to cover the phase one cost of USD131 million. The New Chah-Bahar Airport is designed with 817,600 passengers capacity.
Jul-2020. Chabahar Free Zone deputy head of transportation and transit Saied Chalandari said the first IRR4.7 trillion (USD111.6 million) stage of New Chah-Bahar Airport will be inaugurated within 12 months.
Aug-2017. Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company stated additional land was allocated to Ahwaz Airport and Chabahar Airport in preparation for the construction of new airports.
Jan-2017. Iran Airports Company (IAC) deputy director for planning and supervision Gholam Hossein Bagherian reported "good outcomes" from discussions with French and Italian companies on airport expansion and infrastructure development. Mr Bagherian hopes to finalise discussions by the end of the Iranian calendar year in Mar-2017 and said a public tender will be issued for investment in the New Ahwaz Airport and Chabahar Airport projects on a build-operate-transfer basis.
