About
Caxias do Sul Serra Gaúcha Airport is an airport development project headed by Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul State Government. The federal government is expected to fund the USD95 million development, to be constructed at the Vila Oliva district.
Sep-2021. Brazil's Caxias do Sul Government awarded Iguatemi Consultoria e Serviços de Engenharia a BRL1.6 million (USD304,849) contract for the construction of New Caxias do Sul Serra Gaúcha Airport. The project includes construction of a 2000m runway, hangar and passenger terminal, with a completion deadline of Sep-2022.
May-2021. Brazil's Minister of Infrastructure Tarcisio Gomes de Freitas announced a public tender for construction of the Caxias do Sul Serra Gaucha Airport. The proposed BRL200 million (USD38.2 million) investment aims to have operational capacity for Boeing 737 800 aircraft, a 4700sqm passenger terminal, a 26,000sqm aircraft yard and a 1930m x 45m runway. The project is financed by Brazil's National Civil Aviation Fund.
Dec-2019. Brazil's Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SAC), the Minister of Infrastructure (MoI) and the Ministry of Caxias do Sul entered an agreement for the BRL200 million (USD47.5 million) advanced stage construction of New Caxias do Sul Serra Gaúcha Airport. The airport is expected to service 53 municipalities, have operating capacity for Boeing 737-800 aircraft, a 4700sqm passenger terminal and a 1930m runway.
May-2019. Brazil's Ministry of Infrastructure (Brazil MoI) allocated a BRL200 million (USD51 million) for the construction of Vila Oliva Serra Gaúcha Airport. The airport will have capacity to handle Boeing 737 sized aircraft. The terminal will have 4700sqm, car park with 500 positions, 26,000sqm apron and a 1930m x 45m runway.
Dec-2016. Brazil Civil Aviation Secretariat announced New Caxias do Sul Airport will feature a 1930m x 45m runway, 4500sqm passenger terminal, eight position apron, and 500 car parking slots. The environmental certification is scheduled for conclusion by the end of 2017. The tender processes for the construction are scheduled to commence in 2018. The airport is planned to handle passengers from a catchment area which handles seven million tourists p/a.
Aug-2015. Brazil's Civil Aviation Secretariat of the Presidency (SAC/PR) announced the construction of a new airport in Caxias do Sul, as part of the Regional Aviation Programme. No costs were made available. There is an existing airport.
