New Bengkulu Airport is an airport development project to replace the existing Bengkulu Fatmawati Soekarno Airport. Indonesian state-owned enterprises; PT Perkebunan Nusantara VII and airport operator, Angkasa Pura II are overseeing the project. The new development is part of the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation's (MoT) public-private partnership programme to develop the country's civil airports. The current Bengkulu facility will reportedly be converted into a military air base.
Oct-2014. The Bengkulu Provincial Government advised construction works for the project will commence in 2017. PT Perkebunan Nusantara VII approved PT Angkasa Pura II to acquire a 700ha land plot to construct the facility.
