Musandam Airport is a proposed project in Oman, along with two other, smaller airstrips at Madha and Diba.
May-2025. Oman Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) issued a tender to appoint a consultant to undertake a value engineering study for the Musandam Airport development project . The deadline for the tender is 22-May-2025.
Mar-2025. Oman’s Governor of Musandam Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidy reported the final design of the proposed Musandam Airport has been completed, with plans to begin the tendering process underway. The airport will be developed in two phases, with the first phase including the construction of a 2520 metre runway, a passenger building with capacity to handle 250,000 pax p/a, an air traffic control tower, taxiways and more. In the second phase of development, the runway will be expanded to 3300 metres to handle widebody aircraft. The airport is expected to open in 2H2028.
Feb-2024. Oman Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) launched tenders for the design of the new Musandam Airport, scheduled to be completed in 2H2028 over three phases of construction. The airport is set to attract over 200,000 passengers annually and initially feature a 2520m long runway capable of handling A319 and Boeing 737 aircraft, with plans to extend the runway to 3300m to accommodate widebody aircraft including A330, A350, Boeing 777 and 787 models.
Jan-2024. Oman's Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) completed feasibility studies and selected a site for the construction of Musandam Airport. The airport will handle up to 250,000 passengers p/a, with construction expected to be complete by 2H2028.
Jun-2023.
