Mandi International Airport is a proposed airport to serve the district of Mandi, Himachal Pradesh state in northern India.
Apr-2022. India's Ministry of Civil Aviation announced Himachal Pradesh's Government and Airports Authority of India (AAI) signed an agreement to proceed with plans to develop Mandi International Airport. The airport will be equipped with a 3150m runway and will require an estimated investment of INR9 billion (USD117.7 million) to develop, excluding the cost of acquiring land.
Jan-2020. Airports Authority of India (AAI) announced it signed an agreement with Himachal Pradesh's Government to establish a JV to develop and operate Mandi International Airport. The AAI will hold a 51% stake in the JV, while the state government will hold the remaining 49%. The AAI stated Mandi Airport will be equipped with runway facilities to support up to ATR 72 sized aircraft.
Nov-2019. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur reported the Mandi International Airport development project received clearance from India's Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
Aug-2019. Himachal Pradesh's Chief Minister Jairam Thakur reported the state government aims to secure an INR20 billion (USD282 million) grant from India's Government to develop an international airport in Mandi District.
Apr-2018. India's Minister for Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu approved a proposal to establish a new international airport at Mandi district and agreed to dispatch a team of Ministry of Civil Aviation representatives to Mandi to review sites for the airport development project.
