Ludhiana Halwara International Airport

Halwara International Airport is a proposed airport development project that commenced in 2020. Airports Authority of India (AAI) established a JV with Punjab's Government in Jun-2019 to develop and operate the new airport. Punjab's Government plans to suspend Ludhiana Sahnewal Airport operations following the opening of Halwara International Airport.

Apr-2023. Punjab Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh reported works to develop Ludhiana Halwara International Airport are on track to be completed by Jul-2023. 

Dec-2021. Airports Authority of India (AAI) awarded a contract to Synergy Thrislington to develop an interim passenger terminal at Ludhiana Halwara International Airport. Works to develop the 2000sqm interim terminal are expected to be completed by 30-Jun-2022.

Jun-2021. Airports Authority of India (AAI) aims to complete works to develop an interim passenger terminal at Halwara International Airport and commission the airport by 31-Oct-2021.

Mar-2021. Airports Authority of India (AAI) expects to complete works to develop an interim passenger terminal at Halwara International Airport in Nov-2021. Works to develop boundary wall and approach road infrastructure at Halwara are on track to be completed in Jun-2021.

Dec-2020. Airports Authority of India (AAI) commenced works to develop a 2340m boundary wall at Halwara International Airport. The AAI will develop an international civil enclave at Halwara Air Force Station. Boundary wall works are expected to be completed within six months.

Jul-2020. Ludhiana deputy commissioner Varinder Sharma reported works for the development of an international civil enclave at Halwara Air Force Station are expected to commence within the next two weeks.
