Lai Chau Province is a proposed new airport construction project in Vietnam. The country's Ministry of Transport (MoT) reviewed plans to construct the new airport, stating it will support the development. No other details are available at this time.
Dec-2022. Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam advised the construction of Na San Airport and Lai Chau Province Airport will be temporarily delayed.
Sep-2022. Lai Chau Province Airport which will commence selecting investors to start construction at the end of 2022 and early 2023.
Aug-2022. Vietnam's Lai Chau People's Committee proposed the construction of Lai Chau Province Airport with a capacity of 500,000 passengers p/a in the form of public private partnership. The committee stated there are currently some investors interested in researching and building the airport, adding the province has resourced to implement land use planning and site clearance. It noted the airport would contribute to national security and would be a driving force for socio-economic development. The airport was identified in the 2018 Air Transport Development Plan and by 2030, would be a grade 3C civil and military grade III airport with a 167 hectare land area in Tan Uyen town.
