Jiaxing Airport

The Jiaxing Airport project is a proposed redevelopment of the existing Jiaxing Air Base into a dual-use military and civilian facility. In 2009, the Nanjing Military and the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government signed an agreement to expand the air base into a 4C standard airport, capable of handling up to 500,000 passengers and 2,000 tonnes p/a. Jiaxing Airport Ltd was established in Dec-2010 as a dedicated entity to oversee the development, with a registered capital of RMB100 million (USD14.8 million). The proposed airport is approximately 8km from the city centre in Xiuzhou District, and will serve as a primary airport for the Yangtze River Delta Metropolitan Region. It received CAAC approval in Mar-2016.

Aug-2021. Jiaxing Municipal Development and Reform Commission approved the feasibility survey report and preliminary design and budget for the Jiaxing Airport development project. The airport will be equipped with a 3400m x 50m runway, a 25,700sqm passenger terminal and 27 aircraft parking stands, including 10 stands for cargo aircraft. Works are expected to commence by the end of 2021 and the project will require an estimated investment of CNY3.4 billion (USD524.6 million).

Sep-2018. Jiaxing Airport plans to focus on cargo services upon completion of redevelopment and expansion project. The airport project included construction of one 3400m runway and a 25,700sqm terminal.
