About
Hohhot Shengle International Airport is an airport construction project that will replace the current Hohhot Baita International Airport. Hohhot Baita has been expanded several times since it first opened in 1958, with each development being a small-scale expansion on the original. Due to rapid urban development near the airport, the facility gradually became more restricted on areas where it could develop. As a result, on 29-Oct-2012, Hohhot's regional government agreed on a move to relocate the airport. The new Hohhot Airport will be constructed to code 4F standard and will feature a 325,000sqm terminal, two parallel runways and a 75 aircraft parking bay apron. By 2025, the airport will have annual capacity for 22 million passengers and 200,000 tonnes of cargo, and increase to 28 million passengers and 320,000 tonnes cargo by 2030. The project will cost CNY23.3 billion (USD3.8 billion).
