Faresmaathodaa Airport is a proposed airport constructed on reclaimed land serving the island of Faresmaathodaa, Maldives.


Nov-2022. Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) reported it is proceeding with works to develop Faresmaathodaa Airport, having achieved "82% project progress". MTCC commenced works to develop the airport in Jan-2021. Faresmaathodaa Airport will be equipped with a 1200m runway and the project will require an estimated investment of MVR144.8 million (USD9.5 million).

Jun-2022. Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) reported it is proceeding with works to develop Faresmaathodaa Airport, having achieved "55% project progress".

Apr-2022. Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) reported it commenced runway asphalt laying works at Faresmaathodaa Airport.

Feb-2022. Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) commenced passenger terminal development works at Faresmaathodaa Airport.

Jan-2022. Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) is on track to complete works to develop Faresmaathodaa Airport by Jul-2022.

Sep-2021. Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) announced it "completed the sub-base and subgrade works of airport runway, taxi way, apron, fire pad and fire road" at Faresmaathodaa Airport and is undertaking passenger terminal development works.

May-2021. Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) announced  it "completed the sub grade works of Faresmaathodaa Airport runway and turning pad".

Jan-2021. Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) announced it commenced works to develop Faresmaathodaa Airport on 01-Jan-2021. MTCC is expected to complete works by the end of 2021. 

Dec-2020. Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) plans to commence works to develop Faresmaathodaa Airport in mid Dec-2020. MTCC is expected to complete works by the end of 2021.

Nov-2020. Maldives' Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure awarded a construction contract to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) for the development of Faresmaathodaa Airport. The project will require an estimated investment of MVR144.8 million (USD9.4 million) and MTCC is expected to complete works within 600 days. Faresmaathodaa will be equipped with a 1200m runway.

Jan-2020. Maldives' Ministry of Finance issued a construction tender to complete works to develop Faresmaathodaa Airport. The deadline for the tender is 13-Feb-2020.

Sep-2019. Maldives Transport and Company Company (MTCC) reportedly completed reclamation works for the Faresmaathodaa Airport development project

Mar-2019. Maldives' Minister of Planning and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam reported works to develop Faresmaathodaa Airport are expected to be completed by the end of 2019.

Aug-2018. Maldives' President Abdulla Yameen announced he inaugurated a project to reclaim 13.6ha of coastal land for the development of Faresmaathodaa Airport.

Jun-2018. Maldives Government reportedly appointed Gulf Cobla Tennssor Maldives to reclaim 13.6ha at Gaaf Dhaalu Atoll for the development of Faresmaathodaa Airport. Faresmaathodaa will require an estimated investment of USD2.5 million to develop and is expected to be equipped with a 1200m runway. It is one of eight new airports undergoing development in the Maldives.
