Bayburt Gumushane Airport

Bayburt Gumushane Airport is a proposed airport that will serve the city of Gümüşhane, in Bayburt Province. The project is part of a government initiative to improve access to airports across the country. Turkey intends to complete the development in 2020.
Oct-2018. Bayburt Gumushane Airport construction works commenced on 13-Mar-2018 and are expected to be completed by 31-Mar-2020. The airport will be equipped to accommodate up to two million passengers p/a.
Nov-2017. Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan commented on the pending construction of Bayburt Gumushane Airport (Anadolu Agency, 19-Nov-2017). "Hopefully we will finish the airport, which will serve Gumushane and Bayburt provinces, by 2020", he said. Mr Erdogan said tender preparations are "ongoing", while projecting investment of TRY285 million (EUR62.8 million/USD73.8 million) for the project.
Jun-2017. Turkey's Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communications Ahmet Arslan plans to launch construction tenders for new airports in Karaman, Yozgat and Bayburt-Gümüşhane "this year". He said the Bayburt-Gümüşhane tender is likely to be released in Nov/Dec-2017.
Nov-2016. Turkey's Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications established a new aim to provide all Turkish residents access to an airport every 100km by 2023. Shortlisted locations for new airports include Bayburt-Gumuşhane, Karaman, Nigde-Aksaray and western Antalya.
