Bareilly Airport is a proposed new airport development project undertaken by the Indian government that calls for the construction of a civilian airport serving the city of Bareilly, in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The project has been in the pipeline for more than ten years, with the local government having undergone a protracted process of land acquisitions from local farmers. The airport is an extension of the existing Trishul military airbase.
Nov-2018. Uttar Pradesh Minister of Civil Aviation Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi said the state government aims to inaugurate construction works for the Jewar Noida International Airport development project by the end of Dec-2018 or early Jan-2019. Mr Nandi added that Bareilly Airport development works are on track to be completed by the end of Nov-2018.
Aug-2018. Bareilly additional district magistrate O P Verma reported construction works for the development of Bareilly Airport are suspended for duration of monsoon season in 2018. The Uttar Pradesh State Government aims to complete the airport development project by Nov-2018.
Apr-2018. Airports Authority of India issued a tender for the supply and installation of a prefabricated interim passenger terminal structure at Bareilly Airport. The deadline for the tender is 07-May-2018.
Sep-2017. Airports Authority of India (AAI) commenced the tender process to award construction contracts for the development of Bareilly Airport. Pending Uttar Pradesh State Government approval, AAI expects Bareilly to be equipped to support commercial air travel services by May-2018.
Jul-2016. Airports Authority of India (AAI) asked the Bareilly district administration to acquire additional land for the airport development planned in the region. Bareilly district magistrate Gaurav Dayal advised: “The revised draft suggests the total area of land to be 14.4 hectares. We have already purchased 11.3 hectares and the remaining 2.1 hectares now needs to be acquired.”
Apr-2016. Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Uttar Pradesh's Department of Civil Aviation approved construction of a civil terminal at Bareilly Airport following a site inspection. Construction on a 10 hectare site at the existing Air Force station is expected to commence in Apr-2016 and may be complete by 2017.
Aug-2015. Uttar Pradesh's Government approved more than INR530 million (USD8.3 million) to acquire land for construction of a civil enclave at Bareilly Airport. The Government intends to acquire 10 hectares for the project.
28-Mar-2015. Uttar Pradesh's Government reached agreements with 67 of 82 landowners to acquire land for the Bareilly Airport project. The Government allocated INR250 million (USD4 million) to acquire land for the airport.
Uttar Pradesh’s Government approved the acquisition of 10ha of land by district authorities for the Bareilly Airport project on 23-Mar-2015. The State Government provided INR110 million (USD1.76 million) to compensate landowners. The land will be transferred to Airports Authority of India to undertake the project. The project is expected to cost INR300 million (USD4.79 million) in total.
Aug-2014. District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar sought approval from the Uttar Pradesh Government to proceed with the Bareilly Airport project. The state government provided INR110 million (USD1.8 million) for land acquisition for the project.
