An Giang Airport was a proposed airport development project that will serve Vietnam’s An Giang region. The An Giang Provincial Government sought international investors for the airport's development under a public-private partnership model. The airport was intended to be constructed on a 230ha site at a cost of USD233 million. However, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam's revised master plan for the period until 2020 includes no provisions for a new airport in the province.
Jan-2018. Vietnam's Ministry of Transport rejected a proposal by An Giang Province for construction of a new airport 60km from Can Tho Airport at an estimated cost of VND3.4 trillion (USD149.9 million). Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam's revised master plan for the period until 2020 includes no provisions for a new airport in the province.
Aug-2016. Vietnam Ministry of Transport decided to remove An Giang Airport’s development project from the list of prioritised investments between 2016 and 2020, which means the project will most likely be delayed beyond 2020.
Oct-2013. Vietnam's An Giang Province Government is seeking international investors in its An Giang Airport project under a public-private partnership model. A feasibility study for the proposed airport is currently underway. The airport is intended to be constructed at a 230 hectare site at a cost of USD233 million and will feature a 1850m runway capable of handling ATR 72-sized aircraft. After 2020, the airport will be upgraded to handle A321-sized aircraft.
Jul-2011. Vietnam's An Giang Airport development plan for up to 2020 and towards 2030 has been released by the An Giang province people’s committee. The project has total investment capital of VND3.417 trillion, to be divided into two phases. In the first phase up to 2020, the capital was estimated at VND1.481 trillion. In the second phase to 2030, the airport was will be expanded with a runway of 2382m by 18m. The airport will have capacity to transport 300 tonnes of commodities and 100,000 passengers p/a, with seven routes from An Giang to Thanh Hoa, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Da Lat, HCM City, Phu Quoc and Cambodia.
Jun-2011. Vietnam's Minister of Transportation has approved a project to construct An Giang Airport located in Can Dang commune, Chau Thanh district at a cost of USD168 million (VND3.5 trillion).
