Ajman International Airport

Ajman International Airport is a planned airport construction project for Ajman, the smallest emirate in the United Arab Emirates. Ajman is bordered on its north, south, and east by Sharjah. The project is located in the Al Manama enclave, in the eastern part of Ajman. Construction was planned to start in 2H2008 however, it finally commenced in 3Q2009. The airport is now expected to be open in 2019. The airport is forecast to have initial capacity for one million passengers p/a and a minimum of 400,000 tonnes of cargo.
Jan-2016. Airport Show announced the Ajman International Airport project entails an investment of USD600 million, is expected to be completed by 2018. The airport will handle over one million passengers p/a upon completion.
Feb-2015. Ajman International Airport CEO Rashidi Omrani said the airport is expected to be completed in 2018. The AED1.2 billion (USD325 million) project includes space for a large MRO centre and a terminal with capacity for greater than 1 million passengers p/a.
Sep-2014. Ajman Crown Prince Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi granted final approval for the AED2.1 billion (USD570 million) development plan for the new Ajman International Airport. The new airport is due to open by 2018 with capacity for around 1 million passengers p/a, as part of the emirates’ overall drive to increase tourism numbers.
