South Sudan became an independent state, recognised by the United Nations in 2011. The main airport in the country is Juba Airport with regular services to Entebbe, Nairobi, Cairo, Addis Ababa and also to Khartoum in Sudan. The are three other international airports and other unpaved airstrips.
