Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Khomutovo Airport
Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Khomutovo Airport serves the city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, on the island of Sakhalin in far-eastern Russia. The airport was established in 1945 as a military airfield, and is a hub for Far Eastern carrier Aurora. An important oil and natural resources centre, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk has direct connections to major cities in far-eastern Russia and North Asia, as well as long-haul services to Moscow. Aeroflot, Asiana Airlines, IrAero, RusLine, S7 and Vladivostok Avia operate regular scheduled flights to Khomutovo Airport. The airport received international status in 1990.
