Stephenville Airport serves the town of Stephenville and surrounding areas and is located approximately three kilometres southeast of town, in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The airport was originally constructed by the United States Air Force in 1941 and for over 20 years was known as Ernest Harmon Air Force Base. In 1970, the airport was officially designated as an alternate Trans Oceanic Plane Stop (TOPS). On 1-Apr-1990 the airport was further designated for alternate use, refueling only, by international scheduled traffic and for international general aviation use. Stephenville has developed a specific niche serving trans Atlantic transient traffic through its long-established FBO facility and a refueling services. Stephenville Airport Corporation operate the airport.
