About
Sikorsky Memorial Airport is a US regional airport serving the city of Bridgeport, in Fairfield County, Connecticut. The airport is located approximately seven kilometres southeast of the city near the town of Stratford. Formerly known as Bridgeport Municipal Airport, the facility was renamed Igor I. Sikorsky Memorial Airport in 1972 after aviation pioneer Igor Sikorsky based his aircraft manufacturing company at the airport. Sikorsky Memorial received scheduled services up until the late 1990s but today primarily handles general aviation movements. The airport is operated by the City of Bridgeport.
US' City of Bridgeport approved a motion on 17-Dec-2021 to rename Sikorsky Memorial Airport as Bridgeport Igor Sikorsky Memorial Airport.
