The airport ranks among the busiest airports in Egypt and Africa, handling some seven million passengers p/a and serving airlines from across Africa, the Middle East and Europe. Sharm el-Sheikh is a popular tourist destination with seasonal traffic fluctuations. The majority of its traffic comes in the European summer months when LCCs and charter airlines operate seasonal services to the airport.
