Rostov-on-Don Airport was an international airport located 9km east of the centre of Rostov-on-Don, in southwestern Russia. The airport was served by most major Russian airlines and is a hub for UTair Aviation and Donavia. Rostov Airport was founded in 1925, became an international airport in 1986 and regular services to foreign countries began in 1991. In 1993, the airport was privatised.
In Aug-2017, Russia's Region of Rostov Governor Vasily Golubev approved final plans to transfer operations from Roston-on-Don Airport to Rostov Platov Airport. Operations of Rostov-on-Don Airport transferred to Rostov Platov Airport from 07-Dec-2017. Rostov-on-Don is planned to become a new urban development area.
