Commencing operations in 1930, Purdue University Airport was the first university-owned airport in the United States. The airport is located approximately four kilometres southwest of the city of Lafayette, Indiana. Designated as a general aviation facility by the FAA, Purdue University Airport primarily handles aircraft traffic associated with its flying programs. The airport is operated by Purdue University.
